Burkina Faso's ministry of Health, in collaboration with UNFPA, has included community-based distribution of contraceptives in its community-based services. The concept is implemented mainly through two approaches i.e. the Contracting Strategy and the Social Mapping.
- Contracting Strategy: the Health ministry signs contracts with selected NGOs and associations who will help to deliver the service in a bid to reach a wider population.

- Social Mapping: community members and health workers cooperate to map all compounds in a given village and identify people living in each compound, particularly women.
Community health workers then use the map to individually meet with men and women as part of the community-based services including the distribution of contraceptives.

Le projet MDG-F « Culture et Développement : promotion des industries et initiatives culturelles» en Pays Bassari et au Delta du Saloum, Sénégal a été conjointement exécuté par les l'UNESCO, du PNUD, l'UNFPA, de l'ONUDI et de l'OMT de 2009 à décembre 2012.

Il a permis de promouvoir un environnement favorable aux initiatives economiques locales et des industries culturelles dans un contexte de décentralisation avec une implication effective de tous les acteurs à la base.

Le renforcement des capacités des acteurs à conduit à l'émergence d'organisations fortes capables d'apporter des solutions efficaces à la gestion des activités et à la lutte contre les violences basées sur le genre.

The MDG-F project "Culture and Development: Promotion of cultural industries and initiatives" in Baasari land and Saloum River Delta in Senegal was jointly implemented by UNESCO, UNDP, UNFPA, UNIDO and WTO from 2009 to December 2012.

It helped promote an enabling environment for local economic initiatives and cultural industries within the framework of decentralization together with the effective involvement of all grassroots stakeholders.

The capacity building of stakeholders led to the advent of strong organizations that can provide effective solutions to the management of operations and fight gender-based violence.

Benin hosted the Africa Youth Forum in November 2012 on "Promoting the MDGs and the ICPD Programme of Action among African Youth. Participants shared experiences, best practices and helped recommendations and initiatives for the Bali Global Youth Forum in December.

Depuis 1999, le Sénégal a passé une loi qui interdit la pratique de l'excision avec des peines allant de 6 mois à 5 ans. Des milliers de villages ont depuis fait des déclarations publiques d'abandon (4723 sur 5000 où sévit l'excision). Le pays cible «zéro excision » à l'horizon 2015.

Since 1999, Senegal passed a law prohibiting the practice of female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) with sentences ranging from 6 months to 5 years. Thousands of villages have made public declarations of abandonment (4723 out of 5000 where FGM/C is practiced). The country's target is "zero excision" in 2015.

Les femmes victimes de la fistule obstétricale sont souvent abandonnés à cause de l'odeur d'urines jugée insupportable par le mari ou les membres de la famille. dans des nombreuses communautés, elles sont mises en marge de la société.

Au Niger, nombres femmes souffrent encore de la fistule obstétricale qui constitue un véritable problème social et de santé publique.

Ce film documentaire, nous fait découvrir ses causes et ses conséquences, ainsi que les actions que l'UNFPA mène pour faire face à ce fléau, en appuyant le gouvernement du Niger

Women victims of obstetric fistula are very often abandoned by their husbands and their families because of the strong urine stench. In some communities, they are stigmatised and marginalized from society.

In Niger, many women suffer from obstetric fistula. This condition is a social as well as public health issue.

This documentary film takes us through the causes and consequences as well as the actions that UNFPA has invested in, in support of the Government of Niger, to prevent and treat this condition, and to reintegrate its sufferers.
