The Regional Director for West and Central Africa of the United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA, Dr Sennen Hounton, inaugurated the Integrated Multisectoral Services Center (CISM) of the Chad-China Friendship Hospital in N'Djamena on July 05.
This center is the 4th in the city of N'Djamena and the 8th in the country as a whole. The ribbon was cut by the Minister of Gender and National Solidarity, Madame Amina Priscille Longoh, in the presence of the Secretary of State for Justice and Human Rights, Madame Bourkou Louise Ngaradoumri, the Secretary of State for Public Health, Madame Zenab Bachir Moussa, and sister agencies of the United Nations System. CISM is dedicated to the care of women survivors of gender-based violence (GBV).
After the symbolic ribbon-cutting by Minister Amina Pricscille Longoh, marking the opening of the CISM at the Chad-China Friendship Hospital, came a tour of the premises and the various departments. The Regional Director and the 3 members of the government held confidential discussions with survivors who had already been treated before the center's official opening.
What we have just seen and heard helps us understand why the United Nations system in Chad has set up a series of integrated care centers for survivors of gender-based violence", said Dr. Sennen Hounton, concluding: "We support these types of actions because our mission is to restore the dignity of survivors of gender-based violence and protect girls and women from GBV".
