The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) West and Central Africa Regional Office and the private company, Uniting, are undertaking the Road Trip of Choices initiative from Milan, Italy, to Dakar, Senegal. The main aim of the project is to narrate and support UNFPA’s interventions in these countries in West and Central Africa. UNFPA, the United Nation’s sexual and reproductive health agency, promotes universal access to the sexual and reproductive health of every person in the world, including the health, dignity and rights of women and girls.
This is the vision behind ROADTRIP of CHOICES, an initiative conceived by Uniting Group's Chief Creative Strategist, Dario De Lisi and Simone de Eguileor, an entrepreneur.
A road trip from Milan to Dakar, with the departure on 26 December 2022, travelling through Mauritania and Senegal, in West Africa, to discover the interventions supported by UNFPA and amplify the voices of stories yet to be known.
“At UNFPA, we’re genuinely excited about the opportunity for more people to get to know about their rights around sexual and reproductive health and UNFPA’s work for the empowerment and protection of women, girls and young people in West and Central Africa. Through our daily work across the Region, we strive for Zero preventable maternal mortality; Zero unmet need for family planning and Zero gender-based violence and harmful practices; partnering with governments, civil society organisations and private sector organisations, we help women, girls and young people to become aware of and knowledgeable about their bodies and their rights, and give them access to information, services and opportunities to exercise those rights and make informed choices. UNFPA’s collaboration with Uniting brings another dimension to our partnering with private entities to amplify our interventions and create a more meaningful impact on the lives of women and girls.” Stated Fabrizia Falcione, UNFPA Deputy Regional Director for West and Central Africa
"UNFPA's work represents an invaluable heritage, made up of paths and goals that deserve to be communicated, as do the stories and testimonies of the people who have experienced it all," says Dario De Lisi, Chief Creative Strategist of the Uniting Group. "At Uniting, we have long since taken the concept of 'communication activities' to a higher and more practical level. With this journey, we want to make all our know-how and skills available to tell the story of UNFPA's commitment in the best possible way to support it tangibly and find new keys to raise awareness and dialogue with the younger generations". Dario De Lisi explained.
A blank page characterises this ROADTRIP of CHOICES, symbolising the opportunity to choose how to write one's destiny, a choice many people in the world, particularly women and girls, still don't have.
As proof of this promise, everyone that Dario and Simone will meet along the route can write their goals and desires on the car's body.
The final stop, around mid-January, will be Dakar, where the UNFPA Regional Office for West and Central Africa is located.
Within the project is also planned a charity auction, which will be activated at the end of the journey, conceived to be consistent with the storytelling of the initiative. The entire proceeds of the Charity activity will be donated to UNFPA to support not only the projects aimed at contributing to the achievement of UNFPA’s three transformative results of Ending preventable maternal mortality, Ending unmet need for family planning and Ending Gender-Based Violence, including Child Marriage and Female Genital Mutilation, by the year 2030.
