In order to face up to the challenge of securing reproductive health commodities, UNFPA, in supporting the Sierra Leonean government's free care initiative, partnered with the civil society to ensure transparent monitoring and advocacy of reproductive health commodity security and the provision of family planning services.

The civil society monitors distribution of drugs from ports, to the central medical store to the district medical store up to the end user. This has improved the flow of drugs, thus increasing accountability in the management and use of drugs from 50% in 2010 to 93% in 2011.
