Senegal: Towards Zero Female Circumcision

Since 1999, Senegal passed a law prohibiting the practice of female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) with sentences ranging from 6 months to 5 years. Thousands of villages have made public declarations of abandonment (4723 out of 5000 where FGM/C is practiced). The country's target is "zero excision" in 2015.
