SRH and HIV Linkages Compendium: Indicators and Related Assessment Tools
While there are many separate indicators related to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and HIV, a key challenge has been the lack of internationally agreed indicators to measure progress in linking SRH and HIV. This SRH and HIV Linkages Compendium contains a focused set of indicators and related assessment tools that have relevance to tracking the links between SRH and HIV programmes at national and sub-national levels.
Each indicator includes an overview, a brief description of its relevance to SRH and HIV linkages, and a hyperlink to a detailed definition. All the indicators in this compendium have passed through a rigorous evaluation based on the indicator standards of the UNAIDS Monitoring and Evaluation Reference Group.
Contraceptives and Condoms for Family Planning and STI/HIV Prevention: External Procurement Support Report 2013
Access to reproductive health, including family planning, is recognized as a human right. Support from donors is critical to improving and ensuring the security of essential contraceptives and other life-saving reproductive health commodities. Contraceptives procured through external support constitute a significant contribution to reproductive health, including family planning and, through the dual protection provided by condoms, the prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) including HIV.
Adding It Up 2014
The 2014 edition of Adding It Up expands the scope of the report and provides new estimates of the needs for and costs and benefits of sexual and reproductive health interventions in the following key areas: contraceptive services; maternal, newborn and other pregnancy-related care; selected services related to HIV prevention; and treating women for four other common STIs.
UNFPA Operational Guidance for Comprehensive Sexuality Education
The right of access to comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) is grounded in fundamental human rights and is a means to empower young people to protect their health, well-being and dignity. This Operational Guidance sets out UNFPA’s framework for CSE, which is one of five prongs to UNFPA‘s Adolescent and Youth Strategy. This document guides UNFPA’s support to governments and other partners as CSE programmes, both in and out of school, are designed, implemented and evaluated. Building on current standards, it outlines steps to identify priorities, implement actions and evaluate outcomes – providing country-specific examples, tools for programme managers and technical advisers.
Reproductive Rights are Human Rights
The purpose of this Handbook is to provide National Human Rights Institutions with tools and guidance on how to integrate reproductive rights into their work. Each National Human Rights Institution is as unique as the country in which it has been established but that does not mean that many of their challenges, including within the field of reproductive rights, are not the same or similar. This Handbook is intended to give an introduction to reproductive rights, both what they mean in practice and their normative background, and how National Human Rights Institutions can work within this field. A number of experiences from NHRIs have been gathered and are included in this Handbook.
State of World Population 2014
Young people matter. They matter because an unprecedented 1.8 billion youth are alive today, and because they are the shapers and leaders of our global future. They matter because they have inherent human rights that must be fulfilled. Yet, in a world of adult concerns, young people are often overlooked. This tendency cries out for urgent correction, because it imperils youth as well as economies and societies at large.
Religion and development post 2015
The consultation titled “Religion and Development Post-2015: Challenges, Opportunities and Policy Guidance” was hosted by UNFPA in its capacity as Convenor of the UN- IATF-FBO and co-sponsored by George Mason University, City University London and Digni, a religious umbrella organization from Norway. The roundtable event took place on 12-13 May 2014 in New York.
HIV/AIDS Prevention Guidance for Reproductive Health Professionals in Developing-Country Settings
After more than two decades of sustained and expanding HIV/AIDS interventions, it is clear that effective HIV services, programs, and policies for prevention, care, support, treatment, and impact alleviation require multi-sectoral responses from governments, international agencies, and international and national nongovernmental organizations (NGOs).
